Hello everyone!
Let me introduce my website which is designed to provide the recipes of Indonesian foods. This website is the product of my personal project for MYP5 at the International School of Groningen (ISG), in the Netherlands. The goals of this website are to explore the richness of foods of each region in Indonesia and to understand how regions’ characteristics in Indonesia influence the types of foods. The final goal of this website is to introduce the Indonesian foods and their recipes to the world.
Indonesia is a big country which consists of more than thirteen thousand islands with 261 million people. Indonesia has 34 provinces and consists of hundreds ethnics. As a nation, Indonesia is characterized by ethnic diversity and religion pluralism within a Muslim-majority population. However, the heterogeneity is united by the motto “Bhineka Tunggal Ika” which means unity in diversity. The heterogeneity of Indonesia has influenced the type of foods of each region. The different cultures, the availability of ingredients, geographic condition, and religions are the factors which affect the richness of foods in Indonesia.
In order to address the goals of this website, I conducted a survey to Indonesian people in each province about their preferences on foods and their opinion toward the factors which influence the taste of foods in their regions. Moreover, I also explored their opinion whether the foods can be introduced to the international community.
This website is different from the other websites, because this website provides the recipes of Indonesian foods for each province and it is based the research. I hope this website will be beneficial for all the people in the world who love cooking and culinary. As this website is about Indonesian food, I named it as “Nusantara Cuisine”.
